From the mountains to the ocean, sea the difference in all of South Carolina’s habitats as you take a journey through the Aquarium and encounter thousands of native animals and plants! With over 5,000 animals from the mountains to the sea of our beautiful state, you can enjoy all our vast ecosystems and learn about so many different species when you visit.

• Many guests enjoy the Aquarium for two or more hours. We suggest allowing at least 90 minutes to visit all the exhibits the Aquarium offers
• All guests are permitted to stay until our building closes at 5pm daily
• The Aquarium has sensory bags, modified maps, weighted lap pads and a series of Aquarium Stories available to guests
• Feed the Rays experience daily at 10:15 a.m. through 4 p.m. each day, while supplies last. Purchase a stingray feeding voucher for $5 at the admission gate
• The majority of the exhibits are indoors. Three exhibits, Mountain Forest, Saltmarsh Aviary and The Shallows, are partially exposed to the elements and may be temporarily closed during inclement weather
• Weekends and school holidays tend to have the highest volume of guests, so if you would prefer experiencing the Aquarium with smaller crowds, we suggest visiting on a weekday
• Complimentary wheelchairs are available to rent for the duration of your visit with a picture ID at any of our ticket windows. Please note that these are handed out on a first-come, first-serve basis
• Strollers will not be available to rent at this time. Strollers brought into the Aquarium must remain with guests at all times
• Only small snacks and personal water bottles are allowed into the Aquarium
• There are small refreshments available for purchase in the Gift Shop
• Your ticket is valid for the entire day of your visit. If you leave the building with plans to return, be sure to notify admissions before you leave
• Cameras and video cameras are permitted in the Aquarium for your personal use
• A parking garage operated by the City of Charleston is located at 24 Calhoun Street, Charleston, SC 29401
• Metered parking is located along Washington Street and Concord Street
• On select November, December and January dates, the Aquarium will close at 4pm in preparation for Aquarium Aglow
• All guests over the age of two are required to wear a face mask at all times while visiting the Aquarium, regardless of vaccination status
• Please note, the Aquarium is currently operating at a limited capacity every day in order to maintain proper social distancing for all guests and staff
