On Sunday, April 26th come out to the La Jolla Half Marathon. The race takes place in the beautiful city of La Jolla, California and you'll see why this event is known as the best Half around. With ideal spring weather conditions, you'll be wishing this race would never end! Starting at the Del Mar Fairgrounds, the course follows a scenic coastal route before reaching the challenging climb to the summit of Torrey Pines State Park. Breathe in the fresh air as you hear the sounds of encouragement from on-lookers and helpful volunteers. Afer exploring the Torrey Pines, you'll continue down to the La Jolla Shores district and cross the finish line in the Ellen Browning Scripps Park. Once you cross that line, it's time to celebrate! Head to the post-race festival with fellow runners as you listen to a live band, enjoy refreshments and a celebratory beer. Grab your running shoes and participate in the La Jolla Half Marathon.

Online registration required
Race Expo will take place on April 25th at the The Hilton San Diego/Del Mar from 9:00am to 5:00pm
All participants must pick up their own bib number with timing tag attached and race shirt at the expo on Saturday during regular expo hours
If you’re unable to attend the expo, you may authorize someone to pick up your items for you. This person must come with a photocopy or electronic copy of your photo ID
If you’re unable to attend the expo to pick up your race materials or send someone in your place, be sure to select the Race Day Pickup option and pay the additional $20 convenience fee when you register
For the half marathon, you must be able to complete the course in 3.5 hours. For the 5K, you must be able to complete the course in 1 hour. This means you must maintain a 19:21-minute-per-mile pace or faster
There will be a medical tent in the secure, fenced-in finish chute, just beyond the finish line
Complimentary bus service will transport runners from the finish area (La Jolla Cove) to the Half Marathon Start (Del Mar) before the race. YOU MUST BE IN LINE BY 4:45 AM to board the last bus
Complimentary bus service will transport 5K runners from the finish area (La Jolla Cove) to the La Jolla Shores 5K Start (above La Jolla Shores Drive at Horizon Way) before the race. YOU MUST BE IN LINE BY 5:45 AM to board the last bus
Gear check is available at the half marathon and 5K start only. You may not check backpacks or duffle bags. Bags deemed too large to fit into an event-supplied 11” x 16” bag will not be allowed on the shuttles
Starting at 8 AM, complimentary buses will transport runners from the finish area (La Jolla Cove) to the Half Marathon Start parking lot. The Last Post-Race Bus will depart the Cove at 11:00 a.m.
For your safety and the safety of your fellow participants, you are encouraged NOT to use iPods, MP3 players, or similar devices during the race
Due to steep downhills on both the half marathon and 5K courses, strollers are not allowed in either event
animals, dogs or pets of any kind except for service animals are not allowed at the race or the expo

This is for the 5k review. The bus charter is great, however parking was still very difficult to locate in La Jolla. The hydration stations were extremely well placed for a 5k! KUDO's to that planning as it was the best hydration route for a 5k that I have done all year! The timing of runners was also delayed to where no data was being transmitted to the official time booth for results. All 5k times were delayed. I waited around, drank my beer, shopped for about an hour but still no results, so I went home. Other than that fun run, good after race event!

Great volunteers, safe well set up course. Disappointing announcer at finish line. Did not notice 1st female finisher in 5k. Only announced bib number of half marathon finisher, after over 2minutes after the finish provided his name. Reasonable to expect the finish line announcer to be prepared and understand important facts to announce real time
