Forget tequila! The Cinco de Mayo Trail Run is the only way to celebrate this annual Mexican festival. Grab a pass to the 5K or 10K run and prepare to challenge yourself in the San Diego area wilderness, around Lake Poway and through the lush Lake Poway Recreation Area. You'll have a professional time chip to see just how well you do, and if you make it into the top 3 at the finish line, you'll be rewarded a handsome cash prize. After the trail run, replenish with free sports drinks and energy bars, then mingle with your fellow runners for a pre-Cinco de Mayo celebration of fitness and fun!

Launched in 2007 by the Valley Elementary Educational Foundation, the Cinco de Mayo Trail Run has become a not-to-be-missed event in the San Diego area, with 5K and 10K courses that test both endurance and strength in the wilderness. Held on the weekend leading up to Cinco de Mayo, this fun run takes you off-course and around Lake Poway, through the beautiful wilderness of the Lake Poway Recreation Area and back to the finish line where free energy drinks and sports bars are given out and where participants can enjoy a relaxing post-race picnic.
