From November 23 through January 5, ‘Tis the Season for Science transforms the Academy into a winter wonderland with visiting baby reindeer, camel, and yak, indoor snow flurries, icy science experiments, spirited performances, and more. All are included with admission!

The Academy no longer requires guests to wear a mask indoors, although masks will remain highly encouraged.

California Academy of Sciences will be closed to the public on December 4, 2024. Normal admission will resume on December 5th, 2024.

• The Planetarium's 75-foot dome displays one of the most accurate digital Universes ever created

• Children 2 and under and Academy members always visit for free
• Reserve entry to the Planetarium is required in order to facilitate physical distancing. Do this by scanning a QR code with your smartphone at the Academy and selecting an entry time. Please note that entry times and capacity are limited and your first choice may not be available
• Planetarium shows may not be appropriate for children under 7, and we regret that we cannot permit any child under 4
• Some interactive elements within certain exhibits have been disabled or modified for your safety
• The Academy Café is open 9 am-4 pm daily, serving family-friendly favorites in a variety of grab-and-go options, as well as Andytown Coffee drinks
• Guests are welcome to bring their own food and non-alcoholic beverages
• The Academy Store is open daily, although hours may vary
• Cash is accepted at all points of sale inside the Academy except locker rental, but cashless payments are preferred whenever possible. They accept Visa, MasterCard, Discover, Apple Pay, and Google Pay
