If you're a lover of nature or the sciences, then the California Academy of Sciences should definitely be on your list of places to visit. Located within one of San Francisco's greatest treasures, Golden Gate Park, the California Academy of Sciences is a treasure within a treasure. Home to the world's only aquarium, planetarium and natural history museum - all under one roof, it is hard to fathom that you will run out of wonders to see. The Aquarium is home to roughly 40,000 animals, including a penguin colony from Africa, a swamp with an albino alligator, a shark lagoon and more. Meanwhile, the Planetarium is known for its 75 foot diameter screen, which screens its award winning planetarium show on a daily basis. Over at the Rainforest, check out another 1,600 animals, including 250 free flying birds and around 100 reptiles and amphibians in its four story complex. The Natural History Museum boasts dinosaur fossils, an interactive science exhibit and a unique earthquake simulator. As well as all the permanent exhibits, each attraction features its own program of presentations and activities. Let the experience begin!
