About

Long ago, Central and South America were covered in dense equatorial rainforests. Exotic birds sang in the trees overhead, clean clear rivers rushed through the forests, and wild cacao flourished. The exact origins of cacao remain a mystery, but the extensive uses of and reverence for the cacao bean are now universally known. It's thought that either the ancient Olmec or Maya first cultivated the cacao tree around 1000 B.C., and the bean was considered divine in origin. Cacao beans were even used as currency! The Cacao Fest is a day-long journey around the world, exploring the cacao jungles, history, inspiration and sweetness of this "food of the gods!"
