Rising R&B star August Alsina was born and bred in New Orleans, and he's now following in the footsteps of other Big Easy music legends that paved his way. After a series of YouTube covers that generated millions of views, Alsina signed with his first major recording contract in 2007. His first album, 2014's Testimony, debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 and featured the hit singles "I Luv This Shit," (with Trinidad James) and "No Love" (with Nicki Minaj). That same year, he won the title of Best New Artist at the BET Awards. His 2015 sophomore album, This Thing Called Life, also debuted in the top 20, with the single "Hip Hop" becoming Alsina's most successful single to date.
