Details
The workshop is an intro to developing skills to become an actor. The first day of the workshop starts with the historical significance of the studio as well as a detailed description of the process that's been so carefully developed over the past 39 years. After which, through a series of exercises they teach the basis of the craft and everyone works at least 5 or 6 times.

In the second workshop, teaching of the basic skills of the craft will continue with everyone working another 5 to 7 times. It begins by reviewing the skills that students were exposed to in the first class and then move into a second set of skills that students work through to understand. By the end of the second class students are exposed to three months of the process an actor goes through to completely learn their craft. This class is for people who are serious about exploring acting.

Robert Patterson has taught acting on New York City's Upper West Side for the past 37 years, leaving a successful career as a stage actor in 1973 to pursue teaching. The training at the studio proceeds from a single stated purpose: To train each person to be a versatile character actor, making full use of his or her particular range, regardless of whether the playwright be contemporary, musical or classical in nature.
