THINGS TO DO THIS WEEKEND IN LOS ANGELES
December 11th-13th, 2015
Hey guys, it's that time again, it’s time for “Things To Do In LA!”
Well, it’s been a good run. Last week (and even this week) was pretty warm, but we’re dropping back down to temperatures that’re more in line with, you know, this amazing thing called winter. So let’s look for some things to do inside that get you out of the house.
This weekend’s weather report is a reasonable drop from the last weekend. We’re looking at mid-60s for the highs, and upper-40s for the lows. So let’s figure out some things to do with this slight chill.

FRIDAY NIGHT: Chinglish
You’re probably wondering what in God’s name this is. Chinglish is a hugely successful play by Tony-award winning playwright David Henry Hwang. It is finishing its limited, two week run this weekend. It’s about an American businessman who travels to China to help his snag a big business deal for his family, and all of the situations he encounters. It’s a comedy, so expects some big laughs. It starts at 8pm and you can find out more about it here.
SATURDAY: Blazer’s Cup
This isn’t exactly everyone’s cup of tea, but it is a big deal to a good portion of the people in the Los Angeles region, so I’d be remiss in my duties if I didn’t bring it up. This huge outdoor festival contains live music sets, a medical marijuana recreation tent, food, drinks, and shops. Big rappers like The Game will be performing, and you can be sure it’ll be a fun and interesting time. It’s a two day event that spans Saturday and Sunday, so if you can’t go one day, maybe do this on Sunday and do our Sunday choice on Saturday. You can find out more about the Blazer’s Cup here.
SUNDAY: Petersen Automotive Museum
Looks like Petersen is finally reopening after spending months of being “that random building under construction.” The Petersen is a huge part of remembering our history as a car driving culture and has a large inventory of cars that are just amazing to oogle at. Suffice it to say, I went to the Petersen multiple times as a kid, and I haven’t been in a long time. If you have never been to the Petersen, or if you’re like me and haven’t gone in forever, now’s the time to check out one of the pillars of Los Angeles museum life. You can check our full article on the re-opening of the Petersen Automotive Museum here, and you can check out their website here.
EXTRA SUNDAY IDEA: Go Holiday Shopping
Yeah, this extra Saturday idea isn’t really what this blog series is about: getting you out of the house and exploring everything Los Angeles has to offer. I also love finding free events in los angeles. But, if you’re like me, you’ve totally forgotten to go shopping. Hanukkah does end Monday, so the malls may be packed if people are buying last minute Hanukkah gifts. But this weekend may be the sanest weekend to go. It’s two weekends out from Christmas and two weekends after Thanksgiving/Black Friday. The Rose Bowl Flea Market is open this Sunday, and it's only open once a month. It's pretty epic if you’re looking for some shopping to do. There’s info for you right here.
