Escape Rooms - Los Angeles
Escape Rooms are becoming the next big thing. They're story-driven, timed, collaborative puzzles that require teamwork, wit, and smarts to beat. Rooms normally "lock" between 6-12 people in a room, and the group has 40-60 minutes to figure out the puzzle. If the room is large enough, some Escape Rooms put complete strangers with groups of friends, (unless you rent out the room, people do this a lot), forcing them to work together escape (and you have to work together). So whether you're just visiting LA or are a born and bred Angeleno, here are our Top 8 Escape Rooms for Los Angeles.
Escape Room LA
3+1 Challenges - The Theatre (New!), The Detective, The Cavern
120 E. 8th Street
Los Angeles, CA 90014
Located in the busy hub of downtown LA, Escape Room LA runs three different challenges with a fourth in the works. They've just released The Theatre, which delves deep into the history of an old, abandoned theatre that's haunted. It's great for large groups of people, with a maximum capacity of 12 players.
Captured LA
1 Challenge - Starlet Killer
1125 W. 6th St Suite 300
Los Angeles, CA 90017
Focusing solely on making one experience perfect, Captured LA presents the great opportunity to step into your first Escape Room. They've really doubled down to bring this one story to life. Each part is meticulously crafted and the puzzle is excellent. Give them a shot.
Room Escape Adventures
1 Challenge - Trapped in a Room with a Zombie
2035 Bay Street #110
Los Angeles, CA 90021
Unlike other escape rooms, where the issue is that you just need to get out, Room Escape Adventures’ addition of a zombie makes it even more exciting, and terrifying. The Zombie is both a prop and an interesting game mechanic. If you’re touched by the zombie, you’re considered eaten. This adds a load of extra tension that makes it a classic in the Escape Room genre.
Amazing Escape Room
3 Challenges - Operation Desert Storm, The Black and White Room, The Roaring Twenties
16933 Parthenia St Suite 110
Northridge, CA 91343
Here are three different challenges, each with their own unique settings. Choose from playing as a spy in the first Gulf War to working in a black & white chessboard room. Amazing Escape Room is a great location for people living in The Valley. Amazing Escape Room is good for smaller teams, with up 6 maximum players.
The Basement LA
3 Challenges - The Basement, The Boiler Room, The Study
12909 Foothill Blvd
Sylmar, CA 91342
The Basement LA has just added The Study, a new room of up to 10 people. The production value for each set is high, and they even put together a commercial as an expose of their original production, The Basement. The smallest group they have is The Boiler Room, which is only for four people. The Boiler Room will definitely be the most cozy experience you may have in an Escape Room game.
Logiquit
5 Challenges - The Office of Junior Monroe, The Lab of Dr. Lev Pasted; The Warehouse of Jack Travis; The Secert Agent Room; The CSI Room
6051 Hollywood Blvd
Los Angeles, CA 90028
With 5 different challenges, it's hard to get bored at Logiquit. Each of the rooms is smaller though, accommodating a team of up to 5 people. This makes it perfect both for introducing people to escape rooms (since the amount of strangers you'll encounter is smaller) as well as for a small team of hardcore puzzle solvers. None of their challenges are rated as anything less than "medium". So these won't be a walk in the park.
Exit Game
4 Challenges - The Vault, The Lab, The Chamber, The Villains Lair
111 N. Atlantic, Blvd, #148
Monterey Park, CA 91754
Exit Games' three different challenges are multi-stage rooms that get you neck deep into solving the puzzles. One room leads you into the neck, and the props are pretty technologically advanced, bringing life to the atmosphere of the escape room. The normal size of a room is 10 players, but the size of the Exit Games' location allows them to accommodate even larger groups if requested. For large bachelor parties, or team building exercises with a large department, this would be a good bet.
Enigma Escape Room
3 Challenges - The Secret Temple, Apartment 25, The Will
7805 W. Sunset Blvd #200
Los Angeles, CA 90046
A more intimate escape room, Enigma specializes in 2-6 players per room. This makes the puzzles more cerebral than most, and unlike other escape rooms where you can just send people in multiple directions to search and scan, the participants will definitely have to coordinate with each other to solve the puzzle. It's physical location makes it a perfect place to start a good night of partying (WEHO is to the West and Hollywood and Highland to the East). If you're looking to go out with the squad, Enigma is perfectly situated just for that.
