Welcome back to Things To Do This Weekend, where we give you the low down on some of the best things to do across Los Angeles. It’s the last weekend of April, so let’s try and make it a good one.
After Coachella last weekend, and with people going to Stage Coach this weekend, a lot of people are still going to be out of town. A) That means less traffic and B) that means it’s the perfect time for us to go out. Thankfully for all of us (whether we’re going to Stage Coach or not) this weekend will be slightly cooler than the previous weekends. The weather will be perfect for outdoor activities and enjoying some fun under the moon and sun. Here’s the forecast.

It’ll be partly cloudy Saturday and Sunday. There’ll be an occasional cloud that covers the sun, but it won’t cloud up our day. So what’re we doing Friday night?
Friday Night – April 29th – Malibu Guitar Festival
While a little bit pricey, the Malibu Guitar Festival is showing off a pretty amazing line-up of artists. This event runs from April 28th – May 1st, since there are a bunch of other great things going on this weekend, so we’re putting this one up for Friday night only. There will be performances across the four-day event from artists like Albert Lee, The Empty Hearts, Steve Ferrone, Kenny Wayne Shepperd, and more. The festival on the 29th will include Albert Lee, and will open with Vintage Trouble. Go ahead and check it out. Plus, it’s going to be a nice night in Malibu. You can find out more information here.
Saturday Day & Night – April 30th – Los Angeles River Clean Up
The Los Angeles River is always dirty but it doesn’t have to be. There’s just so much trash that runs off our streets and ends up in our waterways. That’s why cleaning up the LA River is an awesome thing to do. This Saturday, there will be a clean-up in four different locations from 9:00 AM – Noon: two different locations of Compton Creek, the Golden Shore Marine Reserve, and the Willow Street Estuary. Do something good for your city by grabbing your gloves and volunteering this Saturday. You can find out more here.
A Street Af(Fair) – WeHo Design Street Festival
There’s a street festival in Weho’s Design District, and it’s showcasing some amazing designs. A Street Af(fair) will show off two different historical design movements that have been influential around SoCal: Hollywood glamour and California modernism. As you’re walking around, see if you can spot the influence of Europe’s iconic street fairs in this first of a kind street festival. This confluence of European and Westside designs will include music and food pairings, so you can enjoy the vibe and grab a light dinner too. This event is produced by The West Hollywood Design District and Parachute Market. It’ll be open from 11:00 AM – 6:00 PM and you can find out more information here.
Sunday – May 1st – Renaissance Pleasure Faire
Oh boy guys, it’s back! Renaissance Pleasure Faire is having its annual fair in Irwindale to deliver that Mead, Meat & Cheese, and the life of renaissance times that we’ve been missing since last Spring. I go every year, and early May has always been the best time to go (since it’s not as hot). See jousting tournaments, zweihander wielding soldiers, amazingly well-dressed princesses and more. If you don’t know what Renn Faire is, Renaissance Faire is a recreation of an open-air faire from renaissance times. But that description doesn’t really do it justice. There are dozens of shops to buy hand-made goods made of steel, gold, leather, and more. There are games to play such as archery, axe-throwing, knife-throwing, and more. There’s an entire food court where you can get artichoke hearts, meat & cheese, full chicken legs, and other savory treats. If you haven’t gone yet, or haven’t decided when to go, go this weekend. It’s worth it, and you can find more info here.
And that’s what we’re doing this weekend. If you have other plans this weekend, please feel free to share them with us in the comment section below, and don’t forget to like us on Facebook and follow us on Twitter.
