Things To Do This Weekend – LA – 4-1-16

It’s the weekend where all of the pranks are played and people either laugh at them or you lose friends forever. Instead of pranking people, let’s find things to do this weekend where we can let loose and play the fool. Let’s make this weekend all about just being ridiculous. To see how ridiculous we can get, let's check the weather.

Look at that weather report, and I’m not fooling around here. It’s going to be gorgeous this weekend. So let’s make use of this amazing weather to have a good time.

Friday Night – April 1st – Glow Zone

Glow Zone is an amazing place up in Woodland Hills. It’s not just some laser tag building. Instead, it’s a whole facility that includes Laser Tag, a black-lit obstacle course, a scalable black-lit rock wall, and more. Combine the feel of Dave & Busters with a glow-in-the-dark Trampoline Park and you have a pretty good idea what you’re getting yourself into. The first Friday night of every month is adult night, where guests must be 21+ and older. So leave the kids at home and bring some friends. You can find out more info here.

Saturday Day – April 2nd – Brewery Artwalk

This biannual event is going on this weekend, and it is a gateway into the deep LA art scene. This event is a celebration of over 100 local artists, and they put it on at the Brewery Arts Complex. It’s free, it’s fun, you can mingle with artists and critics, purchase art directly from the artists/studios themselves, and food at drink are available to purchase from the beer garden and restaurant. The Brewery Artwalk takes place Saturday and Sunday from 11:00 AM – 6:00 PM in downtown LA, and you can find out more info here.

Saturday Night – April 2nd – Santa Monica Pier

A cultural institution, the Santa Monica Pier is always swamped with tourists. But for many places, their spring break is over (except for LAUSD, which is going on this week), and most of the tourists won’t start showing up until May. So now is your chance to head down to the pier and ride the Ferris Wheel, play some Skeeball, and just be a kid. Bring a towel and head down for a walk on the beach, or maybe hit up Bubba Gump Shrimp. Win some prizes, play some air hockey and be a ball of fun. If you need more info about pricing and hours, you can find it here.

Sunday – April 3rd – Curling

Summer is fast approaching, and we should all be getting some exercise in. Not just because we want to look good, but because we want to feel good too. One of the ways to do that is to get into a sport. The gym can be mighty boring, but you can lose yourself in a sport, push yourself farther in a sport, and burn twice as many calories just because you’re having so much fun.

And that’s where curling comes in. Curling is an Olympic sport, but really gets no attention outside of its small, niche, and adoring fans. But people play it because it's a heck of a lock of fun. Curling requires you to use your whole body and your full concentration. It's strategic, thought-provoking, and completely engaging. You can learn to curl Sunday night in Panorama City. You can find out more info here.
